FAQs
Here are answers to my most frequently asked questions about custom book covers, pre-made book covers and everything else about my cover design work process.
FAQ | CUSTOM BOOK COVER
What do you charge for a custom book cover?
The cost of an custom book cover depends on the complexity of the illustration and the package you choose. You can find the available packages and detailed price list here.
What does the work process look like?
To ensure a thorough understanding of your book, I always begin with a call to discuss your story and expectations. Following our conversation, I will provide a written overview of the cover concept. Once the concept is approved, I will proceed with sketching and painting the cover in full color. Upon completion of the illustration, we will move on to cover typography and formatting to finalise the design. You can find more details about my work process here.
What is the typical timeline for your illustrated cover designs?
The timeline for my cover designs can vary based on my current workload. On average, my delivery time for an illustrated cover is between 8-10 weeks, but if you need it faster than that let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
What information should I provide before we can start working together?
To begin our collaboration, I will need essential details such as the trim size of your book, the publishing platform you plan to use, the genre and main storyline of your book. This information will help me create a fitting cover illustration. Once the illustration is complete, I'll need to know the rest of the details, such as the final page count, back blurb, about the author section, website, logo, etc in order to format the cover.
I haven't finished writing my book, should I wait until I have it finished before I can start working with you?
No need to wait. We can start the process with the front cover illustration while you're still finishing your book. Once the illustration is completed, we can always put the cover on hold if you need extra time. to finalise the necessary details needed for the final cover design.
Do you read my book before creating the cover for it?
Due to high volume of covers I work on, I am unfortunately not able to read every book, nor is it really necessary. But not to worry, I always start my projects with a Zoom call with you, the author, to find out the storyline of your book and develop a cover concept that fits your story the best.
What book genres do you work with?
I have experience working with a wide range of genres, including fantasy, young adult, romance, mystery, memoirs, and self-improvement, among others. I'm open to collaborating on various genres, except for children's picture books.
How many revisions are included in the cover design package?
For the cover illustration, the standard package includes up to 4 revisions—2 for the line sketch and 2 for the final painting. In the typography and cover formatting stage, you can request an unlimited number of changes to ensure your complete satisfaction with the final result.
How does the payment work? Do you accept PayPal?
Unfortunately, I do not accept PayPal due to their high fees. Instead I will send you the invoice via Wise, which offers a similar service to Paypal, but with a lot lower fees. Alternatively, I also accept direct bank transfers and can provide you an invoice for the payment. A 60% prepayment is required before starting the drawing process, and the remaining 40% will be due upon completion of the entire project and your approval of the cover.
Do you work with a contract and can I be sure the project will be completed on time?
Rest assured, I take deadlines very seriously and make it a priority to deliver projects on time. I have successfully met all deadlines thus far, so you can trust that your project will be handled promptly and efficiently. Additionally, I always work with a contract, which I will provide before we begin the work. The contract outlines the project's scope, including the deadline, deliverables, and other important terms and conditions, ensuring transparency and a clear understanding of the project's parameters.

FAQ - Pre-made Book Cover
FAQ | PRE-MADE BOOK COVER
What is a pre-made book cover?
A pre-made book cover is a pre-designed book cover that can be purchased and customised with the author’s book title, author name, and other elements specific to the book. Pre-made book covers are designed in advance without any specific book in mind and can be bought and used by any author who finds a cover that suits their book. Pre-made book covers can save time and money compared to custom-designed book covers.
Can multiple people buy the same cover design?
No, absolutely not. Once the pre-made book cover has been purchased, it will not be sold to anybody else. You will receive the exclusive rights to use it as your book cover.
Do you use any stock images or AI on the cover design?
No, absolutely not. As a professional illustrator I am strongly against using AI in my work. All my pre-made & custom covers are digitally hand-painted by me.
How fast will I receive my pre-made cover design?
If I have received the payment and all necessary information required for the cover, than the final files will be delivered no later than within 3 working days.
Do I own the cover image copyright if I buy a pre-made book cover?
With the purchase you will gain exclusive rights to use the image on your ebook, printed book and audio book. But the copyright will belong to the artist, that is me. If you would like to buy out the full copyright, a merchandise license, or receive the illustration without any cover text on it for marketing purposes you will need to buy an additional license. Find out more here.
A full payment is required before receiving the final cover files.
I would like to have some changes made to the cover design I chose, is that possible?
When it comes to altering the illustration itself, than in most cases this is not possible, but feel free to ask. But x2 minor changes to the text design are included after I have replaced the template text on the pre-made cover into your text. For bigger design changes, such as selecting a new title font etc, additional fee might be required.
Do you offer refunds?
f I have already delivered you the final book cover files, then the sale is considered final and no refunds can be made. But if you would like to make additional changes later on, for example change the title etc, then that is always possible, but additional fee might be required.
